There are just some things that could only happen on the East Coast and I've always had this hankering to live there sometime in my life. It seems that all of the films & books I fell in love with at an early age were never based on the West. The jazz scene was hot in the South first- then the eastern coast and then the West. Popular shows on broadway.... The Palace..."THE" Palace New York meant you were big-time. Then there's my favorite books, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Great Gatsby... the text undeniably basks in the glory and charm of New York... East egg, West egg, Williamsburg, the rich, the poor. Sure, LA has numerous amounts of jazz clubs & somewhere there is a cabaret-like night scene.... I've seen jazz bands live, i've indulged in it... but, there is still something about New York. The historic Governors Island, NY has been holding an outdoor party now for three years. ALL about the Jazz Age- the Charleston, vintage cars, Bathing Beauties, music, clothing, costume, pie-eating, PURE celebration.....et cetera. This June marked its third year and i'm determined to attend this party/picnic in the very, very near future.
